Dear friends, writers, lovers of words, Facebook acquaintances, and total strangers who friended me for various reasons seedy or benign,
When I used to host the Velvet Revolution weekly reading series at SFSU, friends were always asking when was I going to do something on this side of the bridge. I've been threatening for a few years now, so when Tomas Moniz invited a collaboration in Berkeley, I was delighted.
Here's the scoop: We found this loungy little jazz-themed speakeasy right by Berkeley BART, with great acoustics, delicious drinks, a smoking patio out back, and a sweet, literature-lovin' new owner who's willing to let us take over the mic from 7 to 9pm on the last Saturday of every month, starting next Saturday, July 30th... for FREE!
We'll have a feature or two, and the rest will be up to you, so please bring along something to share. A poem, a short story, a little stand-up routine. This could be your 3 minutes of fame. Or just listen, sip a tasty beverage, clap when everyone else does, no pressure!
Help us pack the house for this first event featuring the fabulous fictions of Rose Tully. This is going to be fun!
